smith and wesson vs glock

Smith And Wesson Vs Glock - A few days ago, Vuurwapenblog answered a question from GunNuts media blogger Shelley Sargent: Why M&P?. Shelley clearly highlights some of the M&P's advantages over the Glock, including truly ambidextrous controls, interchangeable backstraps to accommodate different hand sizes, and build location.

I own both and have put many rounds on multiple copies of both models (and with all due respect to Shelly, who we hold in high regard at 10-8). I have to side with blogger Vuurwapen on this one, mostly due to the M&P 9mm's accuracy issues. With almost any Glock 17 case I can take more than three inches at 25 yards using factory ammo. With most M&Ps my groups are about 8 inches at the same distance using the same ammo.

To add insult to injury, most M&Ps come with nearly unusable bad triggers right out of the box. The end user must send the pistol back to the S&W Performance Center for a sear upgrade or purchase the excellent Apex Tactical Hard Sear. Glocks consistently come with actionable triggers out of the box.

Does Smith And Wesson Beat Glock In A 2.0 Battle?

That said, the M&P in the .45 caliber is extremely accurate, and if combined with a Performance Center (or even better, an Apex Tactical Sear), the trigger is excellent to excellent. Build an M&P 9mm with a performance center with the precision of an M&P 45 and I'm sold. Until then, the Glock 17 wins this battle with this fantastic nine millimeter plastic. Ah, the endless debate: 'Which pistol will reign supreme in the concealed carry field?' A constant topic of debate with all parties quickly turns to mumbling. About the other side's seeming love of eating crayons.

When comparing the Smith & Wesson M&P9 M2.0 c (the "c" stands for "compact") and the Glock 19, I believe preference alone will drive you to one or the other.

The two are so similar that comparing them is somewhat fruitless, as all that separates them are small details rather than obvious strengths or weaknesses. Many factors change what makes the right gun for you and your situation.

Being on the larger side at 6'2, I'm able to carry a full-size pistol, but the more noticeable print and added grip and barrel length make it less comfortable. Also, I have both pistols discussed in this article and they handle everything I need.

When choosing the right gun for you, try to find a balance between size, caliber and capacity.

A .22 caliber Derringer-style pocket gun may be the most comfortable to carry, but tactically it's not the best choice and the same can be said for the larger "Dirty Harry" gun. Something in between is ideal, and both the G19 and M&P9 strike that delicate balance.

This is where the G19 and M&P9 shine and why many consider them to be an excellent balance of all factors and a popular choice for a good portion of the concealed carry community.

Smith And Wesson Vs Glock

Glock has been a pioneer in this field since the launch of the G19 in 1988. Since then, it has firmly maintained the position of "as close to perfection as possible" for many hidden operators.

Top 5 Concealed Carry Handguns To Consider In 2022

In a move that left everyone wondering why it took so long, Smith & Wesson released the M&P92.0 Compact, which has the same dimensions as the G19.

Both share the same round capacity and reliability is maintained as each is built to perform in all conditions. While the Glock has a much longer track record on the front lines of combat and in many law enforcement holsters, the M&P is arguably just as reliable and reliable in the same circles that the Glock is comfortable with.

M&P, I also have a G19 because it's a quality pistol I can trust. It often comes down to personal preference and which one you are most comfortable buying and carrying.

Since both pistols cost about the same price ($500-$600) new, it can be difficult to decide which one to buy as your new CCW pistol. Here are some things I noticed to help you make an informed decision:

Review: S&w Performance Center M&p Shield 9mm

If you already own and shoot other Glocks, I recommend sticking with the G19. The grip angle will feel right at home in your hand and you'll have no trouble picking it up and scoring those first few strikes.

If you grew up with other handguns, it may take a while to get used to the grip angle. Breaking old habits takes a little time. It's not an impossible endeavor by any means and we could all use the extra range time.

In my opinion, the M&P has a more natural grip angle and fills out the hand better than the squarer grip of the G19. Both newer models of each pistol include interchangeable rear grips for a more customizable pistol grip.

The stippling in the M&P is a little more aggressive for me. It feels good in the hand, but I don't like the rough texture scraping against my skin. I prefer to carry a T-shirt between me and the gun to help prevent chafing.

Both pistols have a substantial magazine capacity of 15 9mm rounds, but each is also capable of accepting 17-round magazines. The M&P 9c 2.0 comes with two grip extensions that slide over the base of the 17-round magazines for seamless integration. The G19 does not include these extensions, but they can be purchased from aftermarket suppliers.

Since both weapons' grips are long enough for my larger-than-average hands, these grip extensions are more cosmetic than anything else, in my opinion.

This detail makes the M&P initially more desirable in my book, but it's important to note that these metal magazines are significantly more expensive than the polymer magazines available for the G19.

Magazines for the G19 are easy to find for between $10-$20, whereas I've seen M&P magazines for over $50 each at my local gun stores.

If you want, you can also find magazines for the Glock that are better than the M&P's 17-round limit, with 33- and 50-round drums available. This isn't practical for CCW, but it sure is fun.

While aftermarket mag extensions are available for the M&P, there are a few other options to increase capacity such as the G19.

The trigger is the next most notable difference between the two pistols. I don't like the M&P stock trigger because of its clunky, clunky feel and like the stock trigger on Glocks. The M&P Pro series supposedly has a better trigger for the higher retail price, but I haven't had one to test yet.

If you're planning on changing the trigger anyway, like I do, this might not be a major factor for you. I recommend getting both pistols in your hands and feeling the differences between them to decide which one you want, or if that's a factor that interests you.

Apex Tactical's products are my pick for aftermarket triggers, but that doesn't mean the M&P9 M2.0 c is useless without a trigger upgrade. That's quite a trigger. I just prefer a smoother, crisper trigger.

The G19's default sights are polymer, and while acceptable for what they're intended for, they're nothing to write home about. However, I think they are far superior to M&P's.

M&P's metal sights are pretty sharp and I've seen them put holes in my shirt, not to mention dig into my skin uncomfortably.

If you decide to buy an M&P, you'll probably want to get a set of scopes from a reputable company like HI VIZ to help handle it. Aside from the unforgivably overly sharp corners, the M&P sights are good and adequate for accuracy and target acquisition.

Both pistols work well for what you want: saving your life. They are reliable and can function as a full-size combat pistol or CCW.

Their popularity means that aftermarket upgrades and quality holsters are easy to come by, as nearly every holster smith will have a dedicated supply for these weapons.

Since these pistols are not pocket guns, they are easy to control and the recoil is manageable for most hands.

Smith And Wesson Vs Glock

Both are great weapons worthy of your trust and choosing the right one is more of a priority than anything else. Looking back on this article, it looks like the Glock 19 might be my CCW pistol of choice, because I have a few more issues with the M&P than the G19:

If those are the things I'm supposed to keep, why not go with the Glock? Because, for me, M&P films naturally. It feels like I have less to adjust to get it right in the first round.

Try both. Many ranges offer the possibility to rent a gun so you can see which is the best choice for you. which
